Biography
Cokau (pronounced Koko) are two extraordinary young Frenchmen, Achille Coquerel and Thomas Kauffmann.
They began working together in a post house as editors and motion graphics designers in 2006. In 2010 Cokau was born and the pair explored their artistic limits with several experimental films. In 2012 their film “Prie Dieu” (Praying Mantis) won the prestigious Vimeo Best Experimental Award. This emboldened them to strike out on their own to become fully-fledged creators – film-makers, motion graphics designers, sound designers and post production wizards.
Their work has won numerous awards around the world and they have shot all over the globe working on international brands Infiniti, Mercedes, Nissan, Peugeot and VW as well as famous marques from Audemars Piguet to Bentley. Their interactive experience “Trois Mots pour Paris” (3 Words for Paris) caused a media sensation with its incredibly addictive, almost infinite possibilities. An immersive installation for a digital arts centre in Paris, entitled H²élyos, won two Webby Awards and Vimeo Staff Pick of the Month at the start of 2020.
Most recently they bent their fiendish intellects to Virtual Production and delivered a stunning five-spot campaign for Mercedes Benz. Forget what you think you know about the French. These guys are great.
